Magix is a leading global developer and provider of software for the editing of video and music content as well as photographs.The company’s head office is in Berlin and it has other development facilities in Dresden and Madison (USA). The company’s products are increasingly aimed at professional users, such as advertising agencies, freelancers and Independent music producers.
capiton is acquiring a majority stake in the company as part of a management buy-out in which the entire management team under CEO Klaus Schmidt are acquiring shares and the founders are reinvesting to a significant degree. Magix is a primary Transaction and the first part of capiton’s increased activity in the area of digital business models.
Magix has been active in the video and music editing Software market for more than twenty years and can therefore build on a very broad and loyal customer base. Supported by its new management, the company has been increasingly focusing on the segment of professional users and online direct sales in recent years. In 2016, Magix acquired Sony Corporation’s video and Music editing software products, which contribute to the company’s strong growth. Building on the management’s experience in acquisition and Integration as well as a fragmented market environment, capiton, the management and the co-shareholders are planning to continue the buy-and-build strategy that has already been successfully implemented.
